Ahmed Hussen is a Canadian lawyer and politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for York South—Weston—Etobicoke since 2025. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, he arrived in Canada as a refugee in the 1990s. Hussen has held several high-profile federal Cabinet positions, including Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, and Minister of International Development. He is recognized as the first Somali-Canadian elected to the House of Commons and the first to serve in the federal Cabinet. Currently, he chairs the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.
