Alejandra Zaga Mendez

Alejandra Zaga Mendez is a Peruvian-born Canadian politician serving as a member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Verdun. Elected in the 2022 Quebec general election, she represents the left-wing party Québec solidaire. Zaga Mendez holds a master's degree in natural resource management from McGill University and a doctorate in sustainable development from the Université du Québec en Outaouais. Her political career is rooted in social activism, including participation in the 2012 Quebec student protests. In the National Assembly, she serves as an opposition critic for portfolios including environment, natural resources, and agriculture.
