Alf Dubs, Baron Dubs is a British politician and life peer who has served in the House of Lords since 1994. Born in Czechoslovakia, he arrived in the United Kingdom as a child refugee via the Kindertransport in 1939. Before his appointment to the Lords, he served as the Labour Member of Parliament for Battersea from 1979 to 1987 and later as a junior minister in the Northern Ireland Office. A prominent advocate for refugee rights, he is best known for the 'Dubs Amendment' to the Immigration Act 2016, which sought to provide sanctuary for unaccompanied child refugees. He has also held leadership roles in various organizations, including the Refugee Council and the Fabian Society.
