Andrzej Nowakowski

Andrzej Nowakowski is a Polish academic, philologist, and photographer known for his extensive work in literary studies and cultural management. He earned his doctorate in Polish philology from Jagiellonian University in 1984, where he served as a long-time faculty member. Throughout his career, he has held significant leadership roles, including director of the Universitas publishing house and the National Book Institute in Kraków. Beyond his academic contributions, he is a recognized photographer whose work has documented significant cultural heritage sites, such as the Veit Stoss altarpiece in St. Mary's Basilica. He has received numerous honors for his efforts in promoting Polish culture, including the Silver Cross of Merit and the Gloria Artis Medal.
