Anne Aly is an Australian politician and academic who has served as the Member for Cowan in the House of Representatives since 2016. A member of the Labor Party, she was appointed to the Albanese cabinet in 2025 as the Minister for Small Business, Minister for International Development, and Minister for Multicultural Affairs. Previously, she served as the Minister for Early Childhood Education and Youth. Before entering politics, Aly was a prominent professor specializing in counter-terrorism and founded the organization People Against Violent Extremism. She is recognized as the first female Muslim federal parliamentarian and cabinet member in Australian history.
