Annelie Lotriet is a South African politician serving as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly since June 2024. Before her current role, she held various leadership positions within the Democratic Alliance, including DA Caucus Chairperson and Opposition Deputy Chief Whip. An academic by profession, she spent two decades teaching at Vista University and the University of the Free State before entering full-time politics in 2009. Throughout her parliamentary career, she has focused on education, science, and technology policy, and she is recognized as the first non-ANC member to hold the office of Deputy Speaker since the mid-1990s.
