Axel Kicillof

Axel Kicillof is an Argentine economist and politician currently serving as the Governor of Buenos Aires Province, a position he has held since 2019. A prominent figure in the peronist left, he previously served as Argentina's Minister of Economy from 2013 to 2015 under President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. Kicillof is recognized as a heterodox economist who advocates for Keynesian policies and import substitution. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal critic of neoliberalism and played a central role in the 2012 renationalization of the oil company YPF. Before entering high-level government, he was a distinguished academic and researcher at the University of Buenos Aires.
