He assumed office in 2026 following the election of his predecessor, Aurélien Lopez-Liguori, as the mayor of Agde. Prior to his parliamentary service, Chaumeil was elected as a municipal councillor in Marseillan. He has resided in Marseillan since 2020 and represents the National Rally party in the French legislature.
