Blaine Calkins is a Canadian politician serving as the Member of Parliament for the riding of Ponoka—Didsbury in Alberta. First elected to the House of Commons in 2006, he has represented various districts including Wetaskiwin and Red Deer—Lacombe throughout his tenure. A biologist by training, Calkins previously served as a faculty member at Red Deer College and on the Lacombe Town Council. During his parliamentary career, he has chaired the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics and the Conservative Hunting and Angling Caucus. His legislative focus has included rural crime advocacy and labor policy, notably sponsoring the Employees’ Voting Rights Act.
