Prior to his tenure in the Senate, he served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 146, first elected in 2006. Throughout his legislative career, Miles has focused on issues such as urban agriculture and public health, notably conceiving the Hip Hop 4 HIV program to combat the AIDS epidemic in local communities. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and a resident of Houston, Texas.
