Buddy Roemer was an American politician, banker, and investor who served as the 52nd Governor of Louisiana from 1988 to 1992 and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 to 1988. Initially a Democrat, he switched his party affiliation to the Republican Party in 1991. During his political career, he was known for his reform-oriented platform, which included efforts to overhaul the state's education system, reform campaign finance laws, and address government corruption. He later sought the presidential nomination for the Republican and Reform parties in 2012.
