변광용

Byeon Gwang-yong is a South Korean politician currently serving as the Mayor of Geoje. He began his political career as an aide to a National Assembly member and has held various roles within the Democratic Party of Korea, including regional committee chair and policy committee vice-chair. He previously served as the 9th Mayor of Geoje from 2018 to 2022 and was re-elected in 2025 and 2026, achieving record-breaking vote percentages for a Democratic candidate in the region. Throughout his career, he has focused on local economic development and labor mediation, notably facilitating conflict resolution between shipyards and subcontracted workers.
