Carlo Nordio is an Italian politician, essayist, and former magistrate who has served as the Minister of Justice since October 2022. Born in Treviso in 1947, he had a distinguished career as a prosecutor, notably leading investigations into the Red Brigades and the Mani Pulite corruption scandal. A self-described conservative liberal, pro-Europeanist, and Atlanticist, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2022. As Minister of Justice, he has championed judicial reforms, including the separation of judicial careers and the abolition of the crime of abuse of office.
