Carola Schouten

Carola Schouten is a Dutch politician currently serving as the Mayor of Rotterdam since October 2024. Previously, she held significant national roles, including serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions from 2022 to 2024, and as Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality from 2017 to 2022. A member of the Christian Union, she was a long-time member of the House of Representatives. Her career is marked by her work on major legislative reforms, including the Future Pensions Act, and her leadership during the Dutch nitrogen crisis.
