He assumed office in February 2024 following his victory in the 2024 Pakistani general election. Representing the NA-79 Gujranwala-III constituency, he ran as an independent candidate with the support of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He secured his seat by defeating his opponent from the Pakistan Muslim League (N) with 103,708 votes.
