Christian Thieme is a German politician and lawyer who has served as the Lord Mayor of Zeitz since 2016. A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), he was re-elected for a second term in 2023 with 57.6 percent of the vote. Before entering politics, Thieme worked as a lawyer specializing in insolvency law and restructuring. He holds a legal education from the University of Hamburg and the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, and he is also a reserve officer in the German Armed Forces.
