Claude Kern is a French politician serving as a Senator for the Bas-Rhin department since 2014. Before his election to the Senate, he had a long career in local government, notably serving as the mayor of Gries from 1995 to 2017 and as the president of the Basse Zorn community of communes. He also led the Association of Mayors of Bas-Rhin. In the Senate, he is a member of the Union of Democrats and Independents (UDI) group and serves on the Committee on Culture, Education and Communication, as well as the Committee on European Affairs.
