Colleen Burton

Colleen Burton is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Florida State Senate. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany, she moved to Lakeland, Florida, after graduating from California State University, Sacramento, with a degree in public administration in 1980. Before entering the legislature, she worked for various nonprofit organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Polk County, and served as the executive director of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra. She also founded Polk Vision, a community initiative focused on regional development. Burton served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2014 to 2022 before her election to the State Senate. Throughout her political career, she has advocated for tax cuts, education funding, and economic development, while maintaining a conservative stance on fiscal and social issues.
