Cosimo Cannito

Cosimo Damiano Cannito is an Italian politician and medical doctor serving as the Mayor of Barletta. First elected in 2018, he led the city through the COVID-19 pandemic before his term was interrupted by a no-confidence motion in 2021. He was subsequently re-elected in 2022. Prior to his political career, Cannito had a distinguished medical career, serving as a primary physician and head of the emergency department at the Monsignor Dimiccoli Hospital in Barletta, and held academic teaching positions at the universities of Bari and Foggia.
