Crystal Kegehi Asige

Crystal Kegehi Asige is a Kenyan legislator, musician, and advocate for disability rights. Nominated to the Senate of Kenya in 2022 to represent special interest groups, including youth and people living with disabilities, she has been a vocal proponent of legislation supporting disability inclusion, such as tax breaks for caregivers and the promotion of Kenyan Sign Language. Before her political career, Asige worked in media and production, including roles at the BBC and the Open Institute. A talented singer and songwriter who lost her sight in her twenties due to glaucoma, she continues to balance her legislative duties with her music career and advocacy work, earning recognition as one of the TIME100 Next emerging leaders in 2024.
