David Robert Michael is an Australian politician who has served as a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for the electorate of Balcatta since 2017. A member of the Labor Party, he previously served on the City of Stirling council, where he was the youngest member ever elected at age 25. Within the Cook ministry, he has held several ministerial portfolios, including Minister for Ports, Local Government, and Road Safety. Michael is recognized as the first MP of Finnish descent in the Western Australian Parliament and is aligned with the Progressive Labor faction.
