Yasonna Laoly is an Indonesian politician and academic who served as the Minister of Law and Human Rights of Indonesia from 2014 to 2019 and again from 2019 to 2024. A senior member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), he previously held mandates as a member of the People's Representative Council and the North Sumatra Provincial Assembly. He earned degrees from the University of North Sumatra, Virginia Commonwealth University, and North Carolina State University, and worked as a lawyer and university lecturer prior to his prominent career in national politics.
