A former investment banker and senior civil servant, he previously served as the Minister of Economics and Finance under President François Hollande. Macron founded the centrist, pro-European political movement En Marche in 2016, which later became Renaissance. His presidency has been marked by significant reforms to labor laws, taxation, and pensions, as well as navigating the COVID-19 pandemic and various international crises. He was re-elected for a second term in 2022, becoming the first French president to win re-election since 2002.
