Gerald A. Neal is an American politician who has served as a member of the Kentucky Senate since 1989, representing the 33rd district. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the longest-serving African American member in the history of the Kentucky General Assembly and has held leadership positions, including Senate Democratic Caucus Chairman. Throughout his career, Neal has been a strong advocate for civil rights, education reform, and public health, sponsoring legislation such as the KCHIP program and laws aimed at prohibiting racial profiling. In addition to his legislative work, he is a practicing attorney and an educator who has taught at the University of Louisville.
