Gerhard Trabert is a German physician, professor of social medicine, and politician. Born in Mainz in 1956, he has dedicated much of his career to providing medical care for homeless and uninsured populations, founding the 'Mainz Model' and the 'Ambulance without Borders' initiative. A professor at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, he has also participated in numerous international humanitarian missions. Politically, he gained national prominence as the presidential candidate for The Left in 2022 and was elected to the Bundestag in 2025 as the top candidate for Rhineland-Palatinate. His political work focuses on social justice, poverty reduction, and humanitarian advocacy.
