Gilbert Kabanda Kurhenga is a Congolese physician, retired military officer, and politician currently serving as the Minister of Scientific Research. A former major general in the Congolese Armed Forces, he previously served as the Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs from 2021 to 2023. During his tenure at the Defense Ministry, he focused on military reform and the establishment of a national reserve force to address security challenges in the eastern region of the country. He is also an academic who has taught aviation medicine at the Catholic University of Bukavu.
