Giuseppe Conte is an Italian politician, jurist, and academic who served as the Prime Minister of Italy from 2018 to 2021. Since August 2021, he has led the Five Star Movement (M5S). A former private law professor, Conte entered politics as a technocrat before becoming a prominent populist figure. During his premiership, he managed the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic and secured significant European recovery funding. He currently serves as a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.
