A former member of the Socialist Party, he previously served as the first deputy mayor of Trélazé from 2008 to 2018 and has been a departmental councilor for Maine-et-Loire since 2007. In the Senate, he is a member of the Ecologist Group and sits on the Finance Committee. In September 2025, he officially joined the political movement Place Publique.
