Jiro Hatoyama is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Tokyo, he is the son of the late politician Kunio Hatoyama. Before entering national politics, he served as the mayor of Okawa City, becoming the youngest person to hold that office at the time. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in a 2016 by-election and has since been re-elected multiple times. Throughout his career, he has held various government positions, including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Cabinet Office. His policy stances generally align with the Liberal Democratic Party, supporting the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities and the maintenance of the Three Non-Nuclear Principles.
