I Wayan Koster

I Wayan Koster is an Indonesian politician and economist currently serving as the Governor of Bali, a position he has held since February 2025, following a previous term from 2018 to 2023. Before his governorship, he served as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) representing Bali for three terms between 2004 and 2018. Throughout his career, Koster has focused on education, culture, and regional development, notably implementing policies such as a ban on single-use plastics in Bali. He is a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and has been involved in various high-profile national and regional political controversies, including his opposition to the participation of the Israeli national football team in international events hosted in Indonesia.
