Ignazio La Russa

Ignazio La Russa is an Italian politician currently serving as the President of the Senate of the Republic since October 2022. A long-standing figure in Italian right-wing politics, he began his career in the Italian Social Movement (MSI) and later co-founded the Brothers of Italy party alongside Giorgia Meloni. Throughout his extensive parliamentary career, which began in 1992, he has held various high-level positions, including Minister of Defence from 2008 to 2011 and Vice President of both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. His political tenure is marked by his advocacy for national conservatism and his significant influence within the Italian center-right coalition.
