She assumed office following a special election in January 2026, succeeding Bobby Sanchez. Prior to her election to the state legislature, she served as an Alderwoman on the Common Council in New Britain, Connecticut. Originally from Carolina, Puerto Rico, she moved to New Britain in 1994 and is a single mother of two adult children.
