István Gyöngyösi

István Gyöngyösi was a prominent Hungarian poet and political figure who lived from 1620 to 1704. He served in various administrative roles, including assessor of the judicial board and deputy lord-lieutenant of Gömör county. Widely celebrated as the most popular author in Hungary during the 18th century, he was often referred to as the "Hungarian Ovid" due to the classical and polished style of his epic poetry.
