J. Gary Pretlow

J. Gary Pretlow is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 89th Assembly District since his first election in 1992. Before his tenure in the state legislature, he served as a member of the Mount Vernon City Council. Throughout his legislative career, Pretlow has held significant leadership roles, including chairing the Assembly Committee on Racing and Wagering from 2011 to 2024, and he currently serves as the chair of the Committee on Ways and Means. His legislative work includes initiatives focused on gaming regulation and the legalization of online poker in New York.
