Jamal El-Haj is a Swedish politician and former trade unionist who currently serves as an independent member of the Riksdag. Born in 1960, he holds a degree in sociology from the Lebanese University. Before his national parliamentary career, he served on the Malmö municipal council from 2002 to 2014 and held various roles within the IF Metall trade union. Originally a member of the Social Democratic Party, he left the party in 2024 following controversies regarding his political associations and attempts to influence the Swedish Migration Agency.
