James Manning Jr. is an American politician and military veteran currently serving as a member of the Oregon State Senate, representing the 7th district since 2016. Prior to his legislative career, he served 24 years on active duty in the U.S. Army and worked as a state correctional and police officer. Manning has been a proponent of expanding automatic voter registration and enhancing the security of mail-in voting systems. In 2024, he unsuccessfully campaigned for the office of Oregon Secretary of State.
