James Skoufis

James Skoufis is an American politician currently serving as a member of the New York State Senate, representing the 42nd District since 2023. Previously, he served in the New York State Assembly from 2013 to 2018 and represented the Senate's 39th District from 2019 to 2022. A graduate of George Washington University and Columbia University, Skoufis began his political career on the Woodbury town board. Throughout his legislative tenure, he has focused on issues such as minimum wage increases, education funding, and government oversight, notably serving as Chair of the Committee on Investigations and Government Operations. In 2025, he briefly campaigned for the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee before withdrawing from the race.
