Jan Paternotte

Jan Paternotte is a Dutch politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Democrats 66 (D66) party since 2017. He previously served as the party's parliamentary leader from 2022 to 2023. Before his national parliamentary career, he was a member of the Amsterdam municipal council, where he led his party to become the largest faction in 2014. Paternotte focuses on foreign affairs, housing, and higher education, and has notably advocated for international support for Taiwan and stricter vetting for Schengen Area access. He holds a degree in European law from the University of Amsterdam.
