Jason C. Buckel

Jason C. Buckel is an American politician and lawyer serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for District 1B since 2015. A member of the Republican Party, he has held the position of minority leader in the House since 2021. Born and raised in Allegany County, Maryland, Buckel practiced law before entering politics. Throughout his legislative career, he has focused on fiscal conservatism, opposing new taxes and advocating for budget cuts, while consistently opposing gun control regulations and various progressive criminal justice reforms. He is known for his vocal opposition to state policies he views as detrimental to rural Maryland and his efforts to influence state fiscal policy.
