Jean-Pierre Gorges

Jean-Pierre Gorges is a French politician who served as the Mayor of Chartres and President of the Chartres Métropole agglomeration community from 2001 to 2026. A former member of the National Assembly representing Eure-et-Loir, he held his parliamentary seat across multiple terms between 2002 and 2017. Throughout his career, Gorges was associated with the parties Démocratie libérale, the Union for a Popular Movement, and later The Republicans. Known for his focus on urban renewal and infrastructure projects in Chartres, he also gained national attention for his independent presidential bid in 2017 and his vocal opposition to French military interventions in Iraq and Syria during his time in parliament.
