Jelena Begović

Jelena Begović is a Serbian molecular biologist and politician currently serving as the Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation. Before entering politics, she had a distinguished academic career, serving as the chair of the University of Belgrade's Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering and leading the 'Fire Eye' laboratory during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since her appointment to the cabinet in 2022, she has focused on biotechnology, notably launching the BIO4 campus and coordinating international scientific initiatives at the United Nations.
