Jill Duson is an American politician and lawyer currently serving as a member of the Maine Senate. Elected in 2022, she holds the distinction of being the first Black woman to serve as a state senator in Maine's history. Prior to her legislative career, Duson served for many years on the Portland City Council and the Portland School Board, becoming the first African-American mayor of Portland in 2004 under the city's council-manager system.
