Jonas Attenius

Jonas Attenius is a Swedish politician serving as the Mayor of Gothenburg (kommunstyrelsens ordförande) since 2023. Before entering politics, he worked as a construction carpenter and served as a UN peacekeeper in Bosnia and Kosovo during the 1990s. A member of the Social Democratic Party, he has been active in the Swedish Building Workers' Union and became a municipal commissioner in 2016. As a political leader, Attenius has focused on welfare, urban development, and addressing segregation, and he was appointed as a deputy member of the Social Democratic Party's executive committee in 2025.
