A resident of Westport, he graduated from Staples High School in 1974. Within the state legislature, Steinberg has held significant leadership roles, including serving as co-chair of the House Public Health Committee and participating in the Transportation and Energy and Technology Committees. In 2021, he unsuccessfully ran for the position of First Selectman of Westport.
