Born in Bandung, he graduated with a degree in economics from Universitas Padjadjaran before embarking on a successful career in the entertainment industry hosting popular quiz and variety shows. He transitioned to politics and was elected to the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia representing the West Java I electoral district under the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, taking office in October 2014 and subsequently winning re-election in 2019 and 2024.
