Klaudia Tanner

Klaudia Tanner is an Austrian politician who has served as the Minister of Defence since January 2020, becoming the first woman to hold the position in the country's history. A member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), she previously worked as the General Manager of the Lower Austrian Farmers' Association and served as a member of the Landtag of Lower Austria. During her tenure as Minister of Defence, she has overseen the modernization of the Austrian Armed Forces, including the procurement of Leonardo AW169M helicopters and the mobilization of military reservists during the COVID-19 pandemic. Known for her firm leadership style, she has navigated various defense policy challenges and remains a prominent figure in the Austrian government.
