Klaudia Tanner

Klaudia Tanner is an Austrian politician and jurist who has served as the Federal Minister of Defence since January 2020. A member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), she previously worked as the director of the Lower Austrian Farmers' League and served as a member of the Landtag of Lower Austria. Known in the media as Austria's 'Iron Lady,' Tanner has overseen significant military reforms, the modernization of the armed forces, and the country's participation in the European Sky Shield Initiative. Her tenure has been marked by a focus on disaster relief, cyber defense, and navigating the security challenges posed by the war in Ukraine.
