Laurent Cathala

Laurent Cathala is a French politician who has served as the Mayor of Créteil since 1977. A long-standing member of the Socialist Party, he previously served as a member of the French National Assembly for the Val-de-Marne constituency from 1981 to 2017 and held the position of Secretary of State for Family, the Elderly, and Repatriates in the early 1990s. Before entering politics, he worked as a nurse and was active in the CFDT trade union. He currently also serves as the president of the Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir territorial public establishment.
