Lauri Läänemets is an Estonian politician currently serving as a member of the Riigikogu. He previously served as the Minister of the Interior from 2022 to 2025, holding the position across three different cabinets. A member of the Social Democratic Party, he has led the party since 2022. Before his national political career, he served as the mayor of Väätsa Rural Municipality from 2013 to 2017. In 2024, he was placed on a wanted list by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs due to his involvement in the removal of Soviet-era monuments in Estonia.
