Leila Barros

Leila Barros is a Brazilian politician and former professional volleyball player serving as a Senator of Brazil representing the Federal District. Known during her athletic career as Leila do Vôlei, she won bronze medals with the Brazil women's national volleyball team at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games and was named the MVP of the FIVB World Grand Prix in 1996 and 1998. Transitioning to public service, she served as the Federal District Secretary of Sport and Leisure from 2015 to 2018 before being elected as the first female senator for the Federal District in October 2018.
