Lello Russo

Lello Russo is an Italian politician currently serving as the Mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco, a position he has held for seven non-consecutive terms. A medical doctor by profession, he first entered local government in 1980. Throughout his long career, he served as a Senator of the Republic during the 11th legislature from 1992 to 1994. Although he faced legal challenges in the 1990s regarding alleged organized crime ties, he was acquitted of all charges in 2000. He has been affiliated with several center-right parties, including Forza Italia and the People of Freedom, and returned to the mayoralty in 2023 following a period of political instability in his municipality.
